Exactly one year ago, my wife told me that we were expecting. We had to wait the 20 weeks mark in the pregnancy to finally see clearly the little one that we were awaiting.

We found out we were going to have a little girl.

So, when we got the ultrasound, I did a simple animation to post on my Facebook page.

Then, we had the baby shower with our families in Canada and I did this drawing which was for our Thank you cards.

Finally, on December 5 2012, my wife and I welcomed our beloved daughter Emilie.

 

Here is Emilie now, at almost 3 months:

Every month, Nickelodeon puts one of the current production in charge of an exhibition in the hallway of the main building.

 

I had the chance to participate while I worked on The Penguins of Madagascar. You can see the two illustrations that I did for the exhibition. The theme was Animals. 

 

2 years ago....

So what happened?

Last time I posted something on this page, Scaredy Squirell (Season One) was coming to an end.

So my next gig to follow was a Storyboarding position on Sidekick, working with the talented director Joey So. Meanwhile, I was taking some Storyboarding night classes with two of the greatest, Kris Pearn and Sergio Paez.

Christmas 2010 was approaching and I was reaching a crossroad in my life. I could either buy a house in a suburb of Toronto and start my family or apply to various studios to try to work either in feature or in California, the capital of animation.

So as I was just finishing my first board on Sidekick, I received 3 offers:

- One from Toonbox in Toronto to work on a feature called Nut Job
- One from Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Los Angeles to work on The Penguins of Madagascar
-One from Disney in Los Angeles to work on one of the Tinkerbelle’s movie.

After many talks with friends and colleagues, Nickelodeon seemed like the right choice for my career.

So after 2 years, I am still having the best time of my life. I have met so many artists who changed my life forever. It is impossible for me to mention all the life changing encounters that I recently had.

Hopefully, this is just the beginning :))

So here ,some of my cafe drawing I did during my trip to the UK.

I didn't know how to poste this stuff .I had so many of them, I came to the conclusion this was the best way ,might be busy to look at .Oh well!!!

Keep in mind I started to do cafe drawing last march ,so I am fairly new at it ,but definitly learning a lot .

Storyboard test

I did this storyboard test on my free time for 2 reasons ,
1- I realized that working with flash and toonboom for to long ,you actually forget how to draw
2-Never storyboarded before (profesionally ) so I just wanted to check if I had the potential to become a storyboard artist.

Far from beeing perfect ,that test got noticed by some people at Nelvana ,and starting on March 30th 09,I am joining the storyboard crew on a show call Scaredy Squirell.The show is directed by Jason Groh and I'll be storyboarding with some really amazing guys like Blair Kitchen and Mike Smukavic.

Surrounded by such talented artist, I have no doubt, this is gonna be an exiting year ahead of me . I sure do have a long way to go to keep up with my co-worker, so may as well start now:))

Here some part of my test.

The show is "Spliced"

and I've been animating on it for the past year, it will be on T.V next Summer (I think) and without a doubt one of the funniest show I 've seen .The 5 sequences I am posting are self-contain and don't follow up with each other .

Sorry for the format but this is my first time dealing with board so I wasn't sure what way was best to post the sequences.I also removed all the technicals notes for clarity. Hope you guys like it, I sure had a lot of fun doing it .
